Fear

The darkness clings to my skin.
Chills run up my back as I feel someone walking behind me.
Do I turn around?
I quicken my pace, not ready to surrender to this movement in the blackness.
Knots churn in my stomach making me lurch forward even more.
“Run.” I say to myself. My feet don’t obey.
I continue to walk at a quickened speed, scanning the brick walls for a way out.
My eyes finally adjust, seeing a dead end.
“No.”
My hands grip the wall tightly, so desperately trying to break free.
Shakily turning around, I see nothing.
Letting my head fall back I breathe a sigh of relief.
The sound that I heard before made itself present again, making me jump.
Frantically, my neck whips around just in time to see a hand coming straight for my mouth.
“Help Me!”
Blackness.

Trick or Treat

Trick or treat,
Zombies eat,
Flesh and blood,
Its such a treat.
They'll find you here,
All alone,
Out of house,
And out of home.
Shall you choose to run away,
They will find you anyway.

Me

A girl. Shes suffering. She wants to help everyone around her. Honestly, its killing her. She can't go on much longer. She walks home and that hardend smile that has been there all day, fades away. A tear slowly escapes down her cheek. At least she made someone happy today. Not even a thank you. She doesn't expect anything from others anymore, shes used to taking care of herself. As she walks through her door, she drops the heavy burden of school on the floor and walks silently to her room. Shes hurt. How much longer can she do this before she cracks? Will anyone notice? Will anyone care? Letting the tears flow freely now, she sits on her bed and stares at her hands. She never lets anyone see her cry. 5:30 P.M. Mom's home. She hears the car pull into the car port outside and she quickly wipes the tears from her eyes. getting up, she meets her mom in the middle of the living room. "How was your day, mom?" The girl asked. "Long and hateful, how was yours, sweetie?" The girls mom didn't even acknowledge her daughter was there. "Fine." The girl replied.

James let out a sigh. “Carter, I have to tell you something. After I tell you, I can guarantee you won’t think like this. You’ll hate me. In fact, you’ll regret even kissing me. “He stepped back fully and extended his wings for the second time that night. Waiting for a reaction, he held his breath.
Carter inhaled slowly. “I… you’re a… an angel?” She looked at him surprised.
James looked down at the floor. “I’m not just an angel.” He looked up trying to sense at least a bit of emotion coming from the shorter of the two. “I’m a guardian angel.”
“Who’s guardian angel are you, James?” Carter walked toward him silently.
James backed up until he hit the bed, knowing that if she was mad at him, he couldn’t run away now. He sighed and sat down, looking up at the chocolate brown eyes that were just inches away from his. “Yours.”

Run.

Are you scared?
You should be.
Make me change my mind.
Maybe you’ll be set free.

You shake your head.
Bad mistake.
I grab the handcuffs.
You were always a fake.

I’ll kill you now.
Make you bleed.
Make you suffer,
Want and need.

Did you love me before?
Did you even care?
Your tear stained cheeks,
Your matted hair.

In fact, I’ll leave you.
Leave you to die.
Making you wish
That you didn’t cry.

Crying is weakness,
You know this now.
He tightened the handcuffs,
Leaving a kiss on her brow.

“Don’t leave me!” She screamed.
Thrashing about.
He laughed and he smiled.
Go ahead, cry out.

No one will hear you.
No one will care.
Now you regret,
Your little affair.

He chuckled and turned away from his wife.
Making her beg and plead for her life.

His hand touched the door,
The tears filled her eyes.
“Please let me go”,
Came out in soft little cries.

His face was now smiling,
Loving this game.
He didn’t feel an ounce of shame.
Walking back to the bed,
He grabbed up the keys,
Unlocking the cuffs,
Setting her free.

She backed away slowly,
From her husband of lies.
She didn’t trust him,
She let out a cry.

His hand touched hers.
She pulled away fast.
Shaking her head,
She bolted at last.

Running from fear,
She made it outside.
He came up behind her,
And pulled her inside.

He laughed as he got closer to her,
Scared she tried to hold back,
The next thing she knew,
Her whole world was black.

Lost

Winding down the dark hallway, I trip but no one sees me.“Help!” I scream. Silence. It wasn't supposed to end like this. I wasn't supposed to be here. How could this have happened? Thump.

A distant sound behind me made me jump out of my skin. What was that? I said to myself. Thump Thump. There it was again. I quickened my pace faster and faster down the pitch black corridor feeling my way on the walls. Thump Thump Thump. Then nothing. It was gone now. I stopped dead in my tracks. I slowly breathed in and out knowing that whatever it was, it was gone. Suddenly the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. Holding my breath I turned around to face my worst nightmare.

Secrets

He’s at it again. I sat there, listening. Her screams echoed through the house. Why does he do this to her? Is this a normal marriage? Is this what people do when they love each other?

I cracked the door to my room scared that if I opened it more than an inch, I'd get hurt too. This doesn't happen every night. Just sometimes.

This man is foreign to me. Yes, he’s my father but when he’s like this.. it’s like he's a whole other person. He seems ten times bigger than his normal 6'3 build, he looks darker. His eyes go from a light brown to an almost black. He looks like a monster with hands that could engulf an entire inferno.

She said something wrong tonight. Something she could've kept to herself.

Some say that the things that happen in a family household stay there if there is no one to hear it. He knows she won't say anything. She’s too scared.

Little did he know that my two year old eyes were watching, just around the corner.
